Thanks to a generous contribution from the M.T. and Helen Gholston Charitable Trust, the Clinton Public School Foundation was again able to give Gholston Teacher Awards to the five 2015-2016 Clinton Public School Teacher of the Year finalists. Initiated in 2006, the Gholston Teacher Awards provide a $1,000 honorarium to the finalists from each school site:

  • Beth Miller of Nance Elementary
  • Addie Acosta of Southwest Elementary
  • Stephanie Bridgeman of Washington Elementary
  • Tara Pugh of Clinton Middle School
  • Hoi Geswender of Clinton High School.

Miller also received an additional $5,000 for being named the district’s Teacher of the Year, plus a $500 classroom grant from CPSF.

Miller has taught in the Clinton Public Schools system for 29 years. She has taught pre-kindergarten for 16 years, 3 of those at the Nance integrated Pre-K program at Methodist Nursing Home, Prior to that Miler taught developmental first grade. She is a graduate of Butler High School, and holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood and elementary education Oklahoma Christian College.
