Advancing Excellence in Clinton Public Schools

SPRING 2008 GRANTS
The Clinton Public School Foundation awarded seven grants, totaling $5543, to Clinton Public School teachers in March 2008.

Literacy First Reading Materials  Kathy Brinkley (Kindergarten) and Patritia Lee (1st grade) from Nance Elementary; Johanna Farr and September Garcia (2nd grade), Melissa Gordon and Christy Stephens (3rd grade), and Kay Cabaniss and Carla Cruson (4th grade) of Southwest Elementary were awarded $1000 per grade for classroom materials needed to implement the new Literacy First teaching model that Clinton Public Schools will be utilizing in those grades.

Fluency  Southwest Elementary teachers Kay Cabaniss, Carla Cruson, Melissa Gordon, and Christy Stephens were awarded $264 for "The Six-Minute Solution," material based on the Literacy First model that promotes reading fluency in 3rd and 4th grade students.

Keeping Science Current  Washington Elementary teacher Robin Rodriquez was awarded $279 for her project, which involves 5th and 6th grade students utilizing "Current Science" publications to prepare Power Point presentations for their school's morning assemblies.
