SPRING 2007 GRANTS
The Clinton Public School Foundation awarded nine grants, totaling $7417, to Clinton Public School teachers in April 2007.


The ABCs of Pre-K & Kindergarten  Nance Elementary teachers Leadell Baca, Tonya Gaunt, Beth Miller, and Shelby Warnick were awarded $760 for their project, in which DVDs created by the teachers are sent home with students and parents in order to reinforce basic objectives in reading readiness and early math skills.

Show Me the World of Art Elementary art teacher Amy Fiegener was awarded $1,011 for her project in which the cultures of the world will be studied through samples of their art work, including African masks, Mexican yarn painting, Plains Indians ledger art, and European painting.


Roll School Southwest Elementary teacher Kay Cabaniss was awarded $972 to fund a 4th grade field trip to the Roll School one-room schoolhouse, part of a unit of study on Oklahoma's history.

Oklahoma Studies Weekly Southwest Elementary teachers Trudy Rehder and Carla Cruson were awarded $624 for their 4th grade social studies project which utilizes a weekly children's newspaper that focuses on the history and social issues specific to Oklahoma.

Dream Dancing II Washington Elementary teachers Yvonne Covey and Joe Thomas were awarded $2,000 t continue their successful ballroom dancing program for 5th and 6th graders.

Exchange City Washington Elementary teacher Donna Rother was awarded $1,200 to teach students basic economic and consumer skills, culminating in a day at Exchange City at the Omniplex in Oklahoma City.

Here's to the Health of our Planet & To the Space Station and Beyond! Clinton Middle School teacher Beth Richert was awarded two grants, for $325 and $225.  "Here's to the Health of our Planet" will involve students conducting experiments with alternative fuel vehicles, while "To the Space Station and Beyond!" involves students observing and experimenting with plant growth in conditions similar to orbit.

Space:  The Final Frontier Clinton High School science teachers Janice Berrong and Marie Pool were awarded $300 to host a telescope training seminar.
